How to reduce no-shows
An empty appointment is time that could have been sold to another client.
A cancellation policy only helps if customers can see it before they book and if you can actually collect when they break it.
Set a clear cancellation window
Decide how long before an appointment a client can cancel without a charge. Make the policy visible before booking, not hidden in the terms.
Use reminders
A reminder gives clients the opportunity to notice a scheduling conflict before it becomes a no-show.
Consider deposits for high-risk bookings
Deposits can make sense for long appointments, expensive treatments, new clients, and clients with repeated no-shows. Do not necessarily apply the same rule to every treatment.
Have a clear no-show process
If a client does not attend, record the outcome consistently. Repeated no-shows can justify stricter booking requirements for future appointments.
Keep the policy understandable
Clients should be able to understand when cancellation is free, what happens after the deadline, what happens if they do not attend, and whether a deposit is refundable.
